MALE CHOIR SOCIETY.
THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Male Choir Society was held last night, there . being an attendance of about twenty members. The chairman (Mr. A. S., Brooker)- presided. An -apology was received for the absence of the president (Dr. Walker). THE SOCIETY’S PROGRESS. The conductor (Mr. F. W. G. McLeod) referred to the work done during the year, and on behalf of the committee thanked members for the very generous support they had given in working up concerts, and also expressed indebtedness -to the subscribers and the general public. He thought they could say without egotism that the concerts generally had been looked, forward to by many people and realisation, in moat cases, had come up to expectations. The last concert probably constituted a milestone in the history of the society, and on the second night of the function realty good work had been done.. The roll ; number of active members was now about forty,, and he had been well pleased with the manner in which members had stuck to the society. In connection with the concerts, Mr. McLeod firmly advocated the continuance of the society's policy in getting high-class artists for the programme. The treasurer (Mr. H Bullin) submitted a statement of finances which showed that receipts amounted to £237 10s and payments £235 12s, leaving a balance of £1 18s.
