The Australians began a match to-day at Perth against the following eleven representing Scotland: Kerr, Sortie, Batson. Campbell, Stevenson, Fraser, Fergusson, Watt, Slevwright, Mitchell and Bisset. The weather was brilliant and there was a large attendance. The wicket was hard and fast. Armstrong, Macartney, Gregory and Oldfield stood out. Collins won the toss, and, with Mayne, started batting to the bowling of Fergusson (of Perthshire), slow, and Mitchell (of Edinburgh), medium pace. Collins gave possible chances in the slips at 6 and 14, and, after Mayne was caught at 32, Pellew was dropped first ball by Stevenson, also In tbe slips. Sievwi-ight and AVatt came on at 68, but without effect. Collins reached 50 out. of 80 in 45 minutes, and 107 came up In an hour. The partnership added 103 before Pellew was caught. Collins was also caught at 193, just as he completed hfs century. Bardsley scored rapidly. The score at the tea adjournment was 280 for four wickets. Received July 13, 8.40 p.m. London, July 12. Five thousand people were present at the match. Fraser (a Perthshire man), replaced Watt with the ball at 124, and Pellew was caught on the boundary. Sortie (Edinburgh) went oh for Fraser at 171. The fielding was good, though not up to the standard of the West of Scotland team. Collins batted 11.0 minutes. He hit fifteen fours, and was caught off a drive to the boundary. He was vigorous up to a point, when his injured thumb apparently troubled him. Two hundred appeared for two hours’ play. Andrews lit one hard to mld-on, which MitchoH held. Five were now put for 261. At 301 Ryder went, his 27 including sir fours. Bardsley reached his century In 110 minutes. When Hendry had made 7, Fergusson failed to hold a catch in the slips. Bardsley miss-hit one from Sievwright, and was caught by Batson, who is a West Indian Scot. Bardsley hit one six and fourteen fours during his two hours' batting. Hendry i was then 22, and ; tte total 357 for seven wickets. Eleven runs later Hendry was dis'cnissed by a brilliant low catch by Mltcthell. McDonald was aggressive during his short stay. Mr. Rush, chairman of the Board of Control, stated that Armstrong and Collins had signed a letter proposing that the board take £lOOO from any profits of the English tour, the rest to he divided among the team. The board rejected the proposal. Air. Rush added that the cricketers were receiving £4BO each and all expenses paid. Those who played in the tests in Australia received £l5O each.
