Several instances of burglary have come to the notice of the Stratford police of late and the public are warned not to leave any kind of valuables in accessible places. The latest case reported was at th©’ Stratford Marble Bar on Friday night, when these’ premises were broken into by the back door and the day’s takings extracted from the cash register. Mr. Vinsen. manager of the business, was away in Toko during the day and on returning at night he went to the cash register to lock up the cash takings and found the register smashed and the money gone. The lock of the back door had been forced. There were marks on the ticket office door of the adjoining theatre indicating that an attempt had •been made to open it with a chisel.. The police are investigating.. , GENERAL. * The long looked for and’ muclr disctttt* l ed public slot telephone is at last erected and in service outside the post office.
