The Australian Press Association learns that an experiment of aeroplane conveyance of Indian mails will probably be undertaken in September, and if successful a regular service will be maintained.
RUSSIA’S LOSS OF PEOPLE. Received July 10, 5.5 p.m. Copenhagen, July 8. Since 1914 the population of Russia has decreased by 12,000,000. The population of Moscow is now only 1,000,000. LABOR UNREST IN GERMANY. Received July 10, 5.5 p.m. Berlin. July 8. Owing to theii failure to secure better wages and working conditions, the gas, electrical, waterworks and tramways workers are preparing to strike. There is also considerable unrest among the telegraph and telephone operators. WOOL TEXTILES SCHEME. Received July 10, 5.5 p.m London. July 8. The Yorkshire Post says the textile employers regard the nationalisation scheme as an unreasonable joke.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. HEROIC POLICE. Received July 11, 12.40 a.m. Delhi, July 9. The police made an extraordinarily fine defence at Aligarh during the riots. Only twelve were available, and four armed constables successfully defended tho Treasury against a mob of about two thousand,
