KILLED BY A TRAIN. By Telegraph— Preis Association. Auckland, Last Night. An unknown man. middle aged, was killed by a train near the Green Lane station this evening. He was badly mutilated. LAW STUDENT’S DEATH Wellington, July 8. At the inquest on John Joseph Fair, a young law student, who was found in bed shot, his brother stated he saw deceased alive at mid-day on \\ ednesday, when he was quite normal. He had no mental worries. Deceased used to clean his rifle and it was about due for a clean when his brother died. The coroner gave a verdict that death was due to a gunshot wound self-inflicted, but whether accidentally or not there was no evidence to show. The report that a piece of string was attached to the rifle was not correct.
