OLD BOYS’ BALL
LAST NIGHTS FUNCTION. The third annual ball under the auspices of the New Plymouth High School Old Boys’ Association was held last night, and was attended by a large assemblage of dancers, about two hundred couples participating. The dance was held in the jtssembly hall at the Boys’ High School. Visitors from many parts of the district, including South Taranaki, were present. From all aspects the function was a very successful one, and an enjoyable time was spent, dancing being continued till early morning hours. The scene in the assembly hall was an animated one, the hall being profusely decorated. Colored streamers suspended 1 •from the ceiling formed the basis of this scheme, and were tastefully arranged, giving a kaleidoscopic effect. The walk' were garlanded with ivy and punga ferns, and the more sombre green of these contrasted pleasantly with the many-hued festoons. Preparations for the ball had been carefully attended to by a number of workers, whose efforts were the contributing factor in the success of the gathering. The ball committee was as follows: Messrs. A. M. McDlarinid (chairman), P. Atkinson and B. Wilson (joint secretaries), A. Bewley, A. J. Papps, W. G. Wilkie, C. H. Wynyard, D. Colson, R. G. Howell. 11. Fuller, R. Blundell, D. Doile, N. B. Bellringer and C. Kyngdon. Catering arrangements were in the capable hands of a committee of young ladies under the presidency of Mrs. The music was provided by Mrs. Georgek orchestra.
