SOUTH TARANAKI JERSEY BREEDERS. With the prospects of lower prices for our dairy produce next season every progressive farmer realises that to keep his returns up to the present standard he must farm on a more scientific basis and keep the cow which would give him the greatest returns. From this viewpoint the Jersey is gaining popularity every day. Why? Because she produces the greatest amount- of butter-fat at the lowest possible price. Therefore she is the most profitable, and it will be noticed from sales whieh have already taken place this season that the hard thinking dairy farmers of this Dominion realise the value of tills breed.

Thanks to the foresight and judgment of the farmers, New Zealand to-day is fortunate in having some of the best Jersey blood and quality outside the island of Jersey. At the South Taranaki Jersey Breeders’ Association’s sale of female stock to be held in Hawera; on Tuesday, the 12th inst., there will be submitted to auction 111 cows and heifers on account of leading well-known breeders. Many of the lots are descended from the most fashionable blood in the Jersey world to-day.
