A TOWN FLOODED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. • Brisbane, July 4. The town oi Goondiwindi is Hooded, the water in some places being nine feet deep. Many families have been removed to schools and chur-ciies on higher ground. The damage is extensive. WOLLONGBAR BREAKING UP. Sydney, July 5. Owing to the recent rough weather the stranded *Wollongbar is breaking i up. The loss on the vessel is estimated at £lOO,OOO. The cargo, a quantity of which had been salved, is valued at £50,000. FREIGHT ON MEAT. Sydney, July 5. Shipowners have refused the request made by meat exporters for a reduction in freights and have intimated that, in view of the scarcity of cargoes, some vessels will cease running. DUTY ON FILMS. - 7 Sydney, July 5. A meeting of film importers, producers and picture showmen protested against the increased duty on films. It was decided to approach Parliament and to point out the disastrous effect on the p-icture business unless' the duty was relaxed. FLOODS IN THE DARLING. Sydney, July 5. The waters continue to rise in the northern tributaries of the Darling and the position is serious, although no lives are yet in danger. » MOUNT MORGAN jSIINE. Brisbane, July 5. The conference at Rockhampton between the Mount Morgan directors and the union representatives proved abortive, the latter rejecting the offer of a sliding scale of wages involving a re-' duction of 4s weekly.
