INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) July 5. The rain on Saturday and Sunday was, to put it mildly, very convincing, so much so, indeed, that the tally at Inglewood’s rain guage station for Sunday read 4.50 inches. Such a downfall, followed by a 90-h.p. south-east blow, was too sudden an introduction into winter to be pleasant. However, as it has been backed up by Tuesday’s incomparatively grand spell, no one here can reasonably complain. The sale held by the Inglewood oflWte of Newton King, Ltd., at the farm, Bristol Road, on account of Mr. Geo. Bennett, was not remarkable for the prices realised. Everything was against the vendor; the heavy downpour of the day before the sale, even of the morning of the day itself, as well as the intense cold, which accompanied the sudden chance of wind from north to south, with a fair sized gale. The prices realised were, for dairy cattle, from £7 up to £2O, an average for the herd of close on £l2. A young pedigree Jersey bull made £lB 18s, and heifer calves from 35s for babies to £2 15s for weaners.
