The dispute which has now arisen, concerns the use of the Burton block, an unloading device which has figured in wharf disputes for a long time. The men engaged ceased work, and Mr. W< H. G. Bennett (manager of the Cooperative Employment Association), Mr« T. Glover (president) and Mr. J. Laurenson (acting secretary) of the Waterside Workers’ Union, went out to Miramar in order to investigate the grieve ance. It is understood that the mert have agreed to work the Rona under protest, as the vessel has to go on the slip at a certain date.
