TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING | The usual monthly meeting of the xaranaki Land Board commenced on Wednesday, June 29, and lasted for three days. Present: Messrs. H. J. Lowe (chairman), C. J. Ryan, -x. R. Cleland, J. AV. 11. Martin, and S. Blake. The following applications for land were approved: Willie Fulcher: Section 225, Hautoki Settlement. A. R. McL. M’.tchell: Section 325, Hautoki Settlement. John Oliver: Section 7, Block 13, Cape. W. H. Foreman: 60 acres in Block 1., Mimi. VV. H. V. Blackett; Section 12, Block 11., Piopiotea West. c. R. Mossman: Part section 20, Block 15, Aria. The following applications to purchase the freehold were approved:— A. H. Moore. —Section 16, Block 3, Opunake. $ D. P. Bain.—Section 12, Block 2, Ngatimaru. The following transfers were approved:— Sections 7. 8,9, Block 9, Kapara, Public Trustee in the estate of G. F._ Turner (deceased) to Dassler and Heal. Sections 3 and 6, Block 16, Opaku, R. Dassler to D. Wilkie. Section 128, Hua and Waiwakaiho, trustees Wm. Miles (deceased) to E. W. Snell. Sections 11 and 16, block 7, Cape, J., J. W. M. and H. T. Fisher to J. and J. W. I. Fisher. Section 13, Block 12, Cape, W., J. and C. Rothery to P. N. and C. A. Corbett. Section 2, Block 10, Opaku, and 3, Block 6, Opaku, W. J. and P. B. Vincent to J. and L. Smitheram. Sub-section 1 of parts sections 1689, 1690 and 1714, town of New Plymouth, John Paton to R. H. Bartley. Allotment 5, part section '713, town of New Plymouth, F. M. Shaw to S. W. Shaw.

Transfers recommended for Minis ter’s approval:— Section. 30, Block 12, Mapara, B. Me Manus to AV. C. McManus.

Part section 5, Block 8, Mapara, R. G. Barr to the Hawera Sash and Door Co., Ltd.

The transfer of sections 1. and 2, Block 5, Ngatimaru, from A. N. Mills to John Martyn was adjourned for appearance of applicants. The following transfers were refused: Sections 5 and 10, Block 1., Pouatu, S. Schultz to Frank Bros. Section 3, Block 9, Upper Waitara, J. C. Harrison to H. B. Addenbrooke.

Mr. J. B. Richards was appointed arbitrator in the matter of the renew#! of the lease of lot 2, section 5, Block 9, Ngatimaru. The awards of the arbitrators re the renewal of the leases of the following sections were received and approved: Part section 10, Manganui district, subdivision 21, Ngatitcra S.D., subdivision 30, Ngatikahumate Block.

Proposals for the expenditure of thirds by the Clifton and Ohura County Councils were approved. The application of A. E. Haynes to be allowed to surrender his lease of section 7S, Huatoki Settlement, was refused.

The report of the ranger on sections 15-22, Block 3, Piopiotea West, was received. and it was resolved to offer for lease in one lot.

The awards of the arbitrators on the renewal of the leases of section 1, Urenui Town Belt, and subdivisions 22 and 24, Ngatiera Block, were received and approved.

Resolved to offer Education Reserve sections in section 189, Patea District, town of Hawera extension No. 5, for lease at auction.

N nety-three applications under the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Acts were dealt with as follows:

Twenty-three applications for purchase of sections and erection of dwellings were recommended, three deferred, and four refused. Thirty-nine applications for stock were recommended, seven deferred, and five refused. Two applications for houses were refused. Two applications for additional building grants were refused. Six applications for transfers were recommended and two deferred.
