A PROGRESSIVE BOROUGH.

GOOD MUNICIPAL MANAGEMENT. Praise for New Plymouth’s municipal management was given by the Minister of Education (the Hon. C. J. Parr) in the course of a reply to a deputation last night. “As an old municipal man,” said Mr. Parr* “I am pleased to note your borough is expanding in population, in wealth, and in importance.” He said he had noticed with satisfaction, and with interest, in going through the borough that day, that it was, from a municipal point of view, well managed. In the tramways the town had undeik taken a big responsibility, and he eoull only wish that they would be as successful in the future as in the past. From the appearances of the streets and the borough the town had a good municipal management, and he hoped this would long continue to be so. As a borough he did not know of any in New Zealand that equalled it so far as street® and general services were concerned. The people were apparently appreciating this fact by coming to the town and thus, helping to make New Plymouth the second borough in New Zealand, so far as the ratio of increase ip population was concerned.
