EXHIBITS AT HAWERA. BUTTER AND CHEESE AWARDS. A SPLENDID DISPLAY. The entries in butter and cheese at the Dominion Winter Show at Hawera this year are not as large an on some previous occasions, but the exhibit is sufficiently striking to impress one with the importance of dairying to the Dominion. A disappointing feature is the lack of entries from Taranaki factories. in the cheese exhibits the prizes are divided by Carrington, Lowgarth, Belvedere, and Knku, while in the butter classes Shannon, Hikurangi and Moa Farmers are the principal winners. While regretting that the entries in the various classes were not more numerous, the judges of the cheese section were pleased to find the quality of the competing exhibits very uniform and well maintained. The cheese was staged in a pleasing condition, being clean and free from mould, and credit is due to those responsible for the storage of the produce The judges remark that a special feature of the butter competitions this year was the uniform make. Flavor as indicated by the score cards compares favorably with those of last year, the high and fairly uniform quality being very satisfactory. Detailed results are: CHEESE.
