DAVIS CUP CONTEST. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright London, June 30. Though no official statement has yet been made, there is a serious prospect of the British Isles not being represented in the Davis Cup contest. Tho question of scratching to Australia is being seriously discussed by the association. The question hingles around Lycett, who since his match with Stimidzu has been violently criticised by some sections of the Press. It is stated at Wwubledon that the association intends to drop Lycett, in which case it is considered impossible to secure a team strong enough to contest the Davis Cup.—United Service. PLAY AT WIMBLEDON. Received July 3, 5.5 p.m. London, July 2. At Wimbledon Lycett and Woosman beat Roper Barnett and Norton 8—45, 2—6, 6—3, In the final round of the men’s singles championship, Tilden (America) beat Norton (South Africa) 4—G, 2—6, 6—l, 6—o, 6—o, 7—5. Lycett and Woosman defeated Lowe Bros, in the final of the doubles G—3, 6—9, 6—5.
