THIRD TEST TO-DAY.

CHANGES IN ENGLISH TEAM. FINAL SELECTIONS UNCERTAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 1, 10.15 p.m. London, June 30. The English test team will be completed to-morrow. Parkin and Hardings have been asked to attend at Leeds. There is some doubt whether Mead will play, owing to an accident yesterday. No decision has been reached regarding the wicketkeeper, in view of his Lords performance. Hallows, the left-hander, playing at the Oval to-day for Players against Gentlemen, was watched with keen interest, but he was a disappointment on a perfect wicket against bowling that never rose above the mediocre. Hallows took two hours to make forty, and a drive to the off was his main scoring stroke. He makes no play with his wrist, but keeps a straight bet and takes no risks. His innings was dull and unenterprising.

Pavilion critics are asking why Dipper was dropped for Hallows after his good display at Lords in the test. Dipper is hailed as a great find. Hearne made 99, and although this occupied 160 minutes there were glimpses of the real Hearne. Crawford’s bowling was patchy and stingless. In direct contrast to Hallows was Hardinge, whose subsequent invitation to be present at Leeds caused no surprise. He went for the bowling and drove to both sides with great vigor, cutting superbly. Hardinge has been one of the most consistent scorers this season. Last week end he was fifth in the averages for England and Australia combined, with twenty innings and an average of 57.41.
