Sir -Ernest Shackleton sails from Lon-« don in August on the ship Quest, in. command of a small exploration parly to investigate obscure islands in the Pacific and Atlantic, visiting certain of the South Polar seas. He will visit New Zealand. Received June 30, 8.10 p.m. London, June 28. Sir Ernest Shackleton’s tiny auxiliary vessel Quest, little more than two hundred tons, has been built to withstand ice pressure, and lias been equipped with the most modern instruments for scientific research. The ship carries captive balloon gear, a seaplane platform and powerful wireless. The expedition will undertake a complete hydrographical) survey en route, and will make chart# of air currents, and will investigate bird, animal and marine life. The stafj includes a number of Sir Ernun Shackleton’s colleagues on the Nimrod and thqi Endurance expeditions. No crew other than scientists will ba carried on the journey to where the ‘ship will finally fit, out, callingfl en route at the Solvagcs Islets audf South Trinidad.
