NO SIGN OF THE CANASTOTA. WARSHIP’S FRUITLESS SEARCH, By Toltgraph.—Prett Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister of Defence received ad vice at mid-day to-day from Commanded Hotham that no trace of the Canastota or boats was discovered by the cruiser Chatham. From Wellington to Auckland the cruiser travelled west to search for the Canastota. Sydney, June 29. There is no further news regarding the missing Canastota. The action of the Federal Government in not despatching a destroyer on the search is contrasted with the prompt action of New Zealand with the Chatham. The Minister for the Navy explained that the Department, following the. usual custom, instructed all ships in the navy to keep a broad course. It is not intended to send a special ship.|
