ACTION BY THE COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The members of the Petone Borough Council to-night discussed the dispute between the council and the gas works employees and drivers. Regarding the former, it z waa decided *o take action to bring the present employees (meaning the employed to take the place of the strikers) "under the provisions of the Arbitration Act, so that if a dispute arose the Court could give a decision. The Mayor and Councillor Churchouse dissented. Regarding the drivers, it was decided to re-instate all but one man, and matters in dispute were referred to the Conciliation Commissioner.
