LABORER’S DEATH

FALL FROM A DRAY; (IYom Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. A laborer named Michael Jones Groshinski, aged 39, and married, was killed at Toko on Saturday afternoon. Deceased was employed by Mr. C. Bayly stumping and cleaning land. At about 4 o’clock on Saturday afternoon Groshinski and his brother were proceeding with a dray load of firewood across a paddock towards the Toko road. The road was very rough, causing the dray to jolt considerably. Deceased was seen by his brother to jump from the top of the load to disengage the reins, which had become entangled, and in doing so slipped and fell underneath the dray, the wheel coming into contact with his head. On going to his assistance the brother found that Groshinski was dead.

An inquest will be held at the Strat ford Courthouse to-morrow.
