BOXING.
THE ELTHAM TOURNAMENT. Great interest Is being taken in the boxing tournament which is to be held at Eltham on Thursday evening, and indications point to a record house. It is questionable if a better programme has ever been submitted to the Taranaki public In one evening. The two professional contests should be great bouts, as each of t the four contestants is training hard, 'and will strip very fit. McAsey (Lepperton) and W. Scott (Wanganui) are the contestants in the heavy-weight contest, and the Taranaki man can bo relied on to uphold 4he honor of his province in his first pci Sessional contest. In the lightweight, G. Thomas (Wanganui), a very popular boxer, will make his professional debut iagainst H. Hart, of Australia, and now of I New Plymouth. In the amateur bouts, a I number of the best South and North Taranaki boxers will be pitted against each other. Mr. T. Tracey will be referee. Patrons are advised to book early at Les. Bluett’s, Eltham.
