THE CURRENT QUOTATIONS. VARYING PRICES. It was recently reported that a Wa* nganui firm had received a quote of £2l l(te e.i.f. main ports per ton for fencing wire. In the course of conversation with a Daily News reporter a prominent Plymouth merchant remarked that this price was by no mean* indicative of the ■ true state of the market. It was-.prob- r ably quite correct that wire had been . quoted at the figure named, but it would be only an isolated instance, probably! arising through a weak holder wishing tq dispose of his stock for caah. The lowest price for which wire could be procured to-day, through the it was stated, was abort £25 per tonJ The finest wholesale quote to-day foi plain galvanised wire was about £26 per ton at the lowest, and £42 10s pei ton for galvanised barbed wire fuo.U C' or f.o.r. main ports.
