HAMILTON MYSTERY.

SMALLFIELD INQUEST CONTINUED. CORONER’S DECISION TO-DAY. B> Telegraph —Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night. The Smallfield inquest was resumed to-day. Dr. Waddell said that he was present at the second exhumation of the body at Ngaruawahia on Tuesday. He examined the mouth and gave details of the teeth missing. Witness thought tho appendix had been removed; he found no trace present. He produced the calcium to which the appendix should. be attached. To Mr. Gillies: The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, and only with considerable difficulty could the calcium be recognised. To the coroner: The second left lower premolar was missing. This bore out the testimony of Dr. Pinfold, on which he was severely cross-examined by the coroner at the last hearing.- It waK not shown as missing on the chart. Continuing his evidence, Dr. Waddell could not say whether there was a scar on the calcium, because it had decayed considerably. There was a hole in the calcium where the appendix would have been if it had decayed off. Ruskin B. Cranwell, dentist, said he was present at the re-exhumation. He examined the body and found it was that of Smallfield/ On examining the mouth he recognised his own work. A model produced coincided exactly with the charts taken from his surgery. In further evidence, Dr. Waddell said a ring taken from the coffin bore the inscription: “Conquest of Jerusalem.” William John Limmer, brother-in-law of deceased, said he presented the ring to Smallfield some time ago.

The coroner adjourned the inquest till to-morrow morning, when he would give his decision.
