NEW PLYMOUTH INVESTMENT SOCIETY.
45TH ANNUAL MEETING. The 45th annual meeting of the New Plymouth Investment and Loan Society (permanent) was held yesterday. Mr. W. F. Brooking (chairman of directors), presided and there were also present, Miss Rennell and Messrs. F. C. J. Bellringer, C. T. Rundle, T. Furlong Jnr., S. Teed, C. F. Foote, P. Shepherd, R. C. Hughes and C. S. Rennell (secretary and treasurer). In presenting their annual report the directors referred with pleasure to the favorable character of theii institution. As usual the directors had made a careful examination of the securities held by the society and had found them all in first class order; in fact the general position of the society, although small, was as sound as anything of its kind in the Dominion. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. C. J. Rundle, the annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The two retiring directors, Messrs. F. C. J. Bellringer and E. Whittle, were re-elected, and Messrs. C. F. Foote and H. Wynyard were again re-appointed the society’s auditors. It was decided to again grant the usual honorarium to the directors. Mr. Bellringer referred with pleasure to the presence of the Press at the meeting and said that the society invited the utmost scrutiny into their work. Mr. Teed also spoke, and mentioned that the work, though concentrated practically in New Plymouth, had not lessened and the year’s results were better than ever. At a subsequent meeting of directors, Mr. W. F. Brooking was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year.
