WAITARA.

HARBOR BOARD. (From Our Gwn Correspondent.) June 15. The Waitara Harbor Board met last Friday evening. The chairman (Mr. Jas. Hine, junr.) presided. The arbitrators (Messrs. Lund and Sampson) appointed to fix a new rental for Mr. J. H. Kibby’s property’, set it down at £27 10s per annum, being an increase of £5 on the old lease.—This award was adopted. Masters, Ltd., wrote asking for storage capacity’ up to 200 tons of cement. — The secretary reported that he had informed the firm that the charge would be 6d per ton per Week, but they thought the price excessive. It was resolved that the rate be fid per ton for the first month on a consignment of not less than 100 tons and 3d per ton thereafter. A sub-lease of premises situated in McLean Street was granted from R. Gribbon to Turner. The secretary reported that 30 yards of boulders were required for river bank protection; also that the wharf shed piles had sunk and required attention. —Authority was given for the work to be carried out. Two tenders were received for 21 years’ lease of a number of blocks Waitara West, constituting a farm, which has been held for a. number of years by Mr. T. C. Wilson. The board’s upset was £5O. The offers received were: P. A. Martin (Eltham) £1 5s 6d per acre (approximately £9B 18s per annum), and T. C. Wilson £75 per an-num.-—The highest offer was accepted. VETERANS’ CEMETERY. The old Veterans’ Cemetery, which has been neglected for a number of years, has been receiving attention by the combined efforts of the Legion fo Frontiersmen and returned soldiers and is now looking quite spick and span. It is their intention to do a good deal of planting to brighten the plot, and donations to help the good work will be welcomed and can be left with Mr. H. Brabant, the R.S.A. secretary.
