THE Y.W.C.A.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Y.W.C.A. Board was held on Monday, June 13, at the boldiers Club. There were present: Mesdames E. A. Walker (president), Alexander, A. Am/jurv, W. Ambury, Blundell, List, Mills, Mac Diarmid, W. H. Skinner, C. H. Weston and Miss Haxrison. Mias Birch (national field organising secretary was asked to take the chair. Nominations were asked for an advisory board of men to the Board of Directors of the New Plymouth branch of the Y.W.C.A. The following names were given in: Messrs. List, C. H. Weston, P. Whitb, J. McLeod, W. H. Skinner, and Hugh Baily. It was decided to adhere to the suggestion of the field committee that Misa Roughton be asked to come to the Clarke Memorial Hostel as hostel secretary and not as general secretary. The by-laws werb discussed and adopted. Chairwomen for the sub-com-mittees were chosen: Finance committee, Mrs. Alexander; membership committee, Mrs. Blundell; young women’i council, Miss Harrison; hostel committee, the president, and with her the board for the first three months aftei opening the hostel; service committee, 1 Miss Holder; publicity, Mrs. List. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. C. H. Weston for his kindness in having a copy of the constitution prepared for each member of the board. It was proposed that the weekly charge for the hostel for board should be fixed (subject to alteration if necessary) at 22s 6d (minimum) and 30s (maximum), with a special arrangement for casuals and for girls who cannot afford to pay the minimum charges.
