Fraser and McLeod was appointed to go into the question of depreciation for the year, and also the furnishing ef the committee’s report. The annual meeting was fixed for Tuesday, July 26, at 8 p.ra., and will be held at the Soldiers’ Club. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.”) The Napier Park winter meeting opens on Friday. Super Six has been returned to kis owner. Tigrftiya is said to fly the small sticks In great atyle. Petunia’s absence from Otaki was caused by a poisoned foot. Khartoum looks flt at present, and win probably race at Greenmeadows. Mattock was jumped at Bulls on Monday, but gave a slovenly exhibition. Vagabond is getting over the schooling hurdles safely, but he does not relish the illegitimate business. Sir Roseberry is fencing well at Opalti, and should reward R. Knox with a win on the Napier trip. Man ot War was put up for auction at Christchurch recently, but at 1450 guineas was passed in, and remains the property of Mr. J. R. Corrigan. Humorist, winner of this year’s English Derby, is out of Jest, a full sister to Mr. Geo. Currie’s successful sire, Absurd. While attending the Great Northern meeting Mr. W. G. Emeny bought Leithfleld (Nassau—Garston) for 320 guineas. She la a speedy two-year-old, and should do good service for the popular local sport Mattock was sent across to Napier yesterday, and will race at Greonmeadows, and; probably at Hastings the following week. Goolwa did not make the trip. Pah King, by Mountain King—Poi Dancer, won a race at the Queensland T.C. meeting last month, and All Aboard was second In a big field in the King’s Plate, run the same day. Loyal Irish was summed up by Sydney scribes Us “on the Jolly side’’ when saddled Up at Warwick Farm, and started at a good price. The Absurd colt ran a good, game race, and his debut in 'Stralia created a favorable impression. The death occurred In Victoria recently of that great mare Gladsome (Seaton Delaval — Miss Gladys), at the age of 20 years. She was a champion in her day, and won th? Great Northern Derby, C.J.C. Oaks, Wellington Cup, and many other races in New Zealand. Subsequently she raced with much success in 'Stralia, winning the A.J.C. Spring Stakes (twice). Futurity Stakes (twice), AU Aged Stakes, Newcastle Cup, etc. She threw nothing as good as herself at the atud, but Allansford, Glad Star, Gledden, Blythesome, and Happy were all winners. Another horse f/iat won distinction in New Zealand and Australia, and whose death was reported recently, was Manlapoto. A great racehorse in his day, he was responsible for many useful horses when put to the stud, though ho sired nothing equal to himself as a racer. Merry Owen is said to be one of the best jumpers seen out n.t Hastings recently, and he should go well in the hunters’ class over there next weak. Tigerland is another 'chaser showing promise, while Hyttus, Meltchikoff and Demagogue have been flying the'small fentees in good style. Hyttus looks like proving a paying proposition as a hurdler.

Khartoum was railed through to Napier yesterday. Ho looks very well, and hopes are expressed that he will repeat his last year's Napier Steeplechase victory.

Parisian Diamond will probably make his debut in a hurdle race at the Napier Park meeting this week. Locheila is Ln steady work again, and it is expected that Crib will be ready in time to contest the Grand National Steeples. This year’s big cross country event should attract a fine field. Master Strowan is reported to be very well. Owing to unsatisfactory train arrangements he was not sent up to Ellerslie.
