Before a small attendance and after « hard and fast game the New Zealand University team defeated Sydney University by 19 points to 11. From the kick off the visitors forced the game, and after a fine rush Wiseman crossed the line, but the try was not converted. Open play In mid-field followed, from which Nothllng kicked a penalty goal, equalising the scores. More forceful play by the visitors enabled Perry to cross, but again the try was hot converted. At half-time the scores were; New Zealand G, Sydney 3. On resumption Sydney attacked strongly, and frequently had the New Zealanders in trouble. He.re. some fine passing resulted in Black scoring a try and converting, making the scores Sydney 8 and New Zealand 6. The visitors’ superior combination now commenced to tell, and again brought their score ahead, a try by Maxwell being converted by Harty. Shortly afterwards Ward crossed the line, and Harty again kicked a goal. A few minutes beforo time Ward got another try, bringing the visitors' score to 19. Sheehan then made a fine run and crossed for the home team. The glume ended: New Zealand 19, Sydney 11.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE LEAGUE GAME. NEW ZEALAND BEAT QUEENSLAND. i GOOD FORM DISPLAYED. Received June 6, 9.20 p.m. ' Sydney, June ff. In the presence of 25,000 spectators the New Zealand League footballers defeated Queensland by 25 points to 12. The New Zealand team was the-same as on Saturday, except that McClymont replaced Nunn. The blacks fjilly redeemed the promises of Saturday, and the back division worked with clock-work precision with frhe vanguard, effectually paving the way for openings. Tancred. McClymont, and Woolley were the pick of the New Zealanders, McClymont particularly displaying good form. Davidson drew first, blood, crossing and converting, after which the blacks over-ran Queensland, tries being registered In quick succession by Waters, Avery, McClymont and Wilson, one of which Davidson converted. Meanwhile Paten kicked a goal from a penalty. At half-time the scores were: New Zealand 19, Queensland In the second spell the Queenslanders for a period threw the blacks on the defensive, Gorman completing a fine passing burst with a try, which Paten converted. The maroons immediately returned to the attack, play hovering In New Zealand territory for a lengthy period. Stanley added a try, which Paten converted, and Woolley and Williams crossed the line for New Zealand. The game ended:
