Y.W.C.A. CAMPAIGN.

FIRST DAY’S COLLECTING. TOTAL APPROACHES £2BO. Evidence was amply given last night of the power of organisation, by the fact that the women and girls of the Y.W.C.A. campaign brought in, as a result of their efforts the first day, the .sum of £197 15s. Only a movement with spirit and force in it could have brought such a team of enthusiastic young women together in such a comparatively short time, eager and willing as they were to help to find the necessary money for the establishment of the Young Women’s Christian Association in New Plymouth, (beginning with thq Girls’ Hostel. Collecting is not eaAy work; it is an unselfish task, and those who engage in it are. worthy of the acknowledgment of the public. Before the roll call of the captains of teams the Rev. O. Blundell gave a short address, in which he expressed his sympathy with the movement and tyis pleasure* in knowing that the Y.W.C.A., which should have been in New Plymouth years ago, was now to become an accomplished fact. It was indeed a need of many years realised. He said that he had gained encouragement by seeing so many enthusiastic faces.. The tea was provided by the ladies of the Whiteley Church Guild, Mesdames W, Ambury, Cannell, Elliot, Morey, Perrott, Sharp, Percy White and Herbert V Lite.
