REDUCTION OF WAGES.
DIFFICULTIES IN ENGLAND. Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 8, 5.5 p.m. London, June 6. The Ministry of Labor has invited the cotton masters and men to a conference on June 7. The engineering wages dispute has reached an acute stage. The Ministry of Labor, replying to the men’s appeal for intervention, said the previous negotiations had not exhausted the possibilities of a settlement, and it was desirable the parties should confer further. The parties again met on Saturday, but did not T(\cb an agreement. The employers are posting notices on Monday intimating reductions in wages of 12s weekly' for time workers, and 15 per cent, for piece workers. A million and a half men are affected.—Aus.« N.Z.
