SCULLING.

THE WORLD’S CHAMPIONSHIP. BOTH MEN IN GOOD FORM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, Last Night. By the end of the week Arnst and Hannan will have finished training so far as hard work is concerned. Next week will be devoted to practising starts, short sprinting, and exercises, and Wednesday next will see the end of a long course of training. The river is in beautiful order and carries a huge volume of water.

On Tuesday with the assistance of the wind hnd tide Arnst did a particularly fast mile, finishing with a great burst of speed. His rowing throughout was excellent, the slide work particularly showing great improvements. He gets a great pace out of his boat when he pays attention to the slide work, but at times neglects this great essential. His blade work is splendid and carried out with machine-like precision. He would have p- Tred another fortnight to get rid of weight. Hannan is a much better man than when he met and beat Fogwell, both x his sculling and physical condition being better. On Saturday week he will go to the post prepared to row the race of his life.

It is possible that on t&e day Hannan will lead Arnst over the first part of the race, the remainder resolving itself into a match between the shorter driving stroke of the challenger against the long sweep of his weightier rival. On Wednesday Hannan did a great row over the full distance at 28 to the minute. He seemed to ease up at the finish and the time was excellent. He is now at the top of his form, and will not do any more hard rowing, but content himself with starts and sprints. His blade work is not so clean as Arnst, hut his leg work is great and body swing good, whilst a slow recovery allows the boat to run well between strokes.
