LADIES’ TOURNAMENT. MISS CAVIN WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. The Taranaki ladies’ golf tournament was concluded at New Plymouth yesterday in boisterous weather. The qfefrmnicnsHp was won by Miss Gavin (of Waitara), a member of the New Plymouth Club.
The concluding stages of the championship proved very Interesting, close matches resulting. Mrs. Grace (Wanganui) beat Mrs. McLean (Hawera), aqd Miss Gavin (New Plymouth) beat Miss Rundle (New Plymouth), both games ending with the last putt on the eighteenth green. A southerly gale was blowing when Mrs. Grace and Miss Gavin played the final in the afternoon, and after a close match Mias Gavin 2 up and 1. Considering the weather, thd standard of play was high, and scene good golf was witnessed. The first, two holes were halved, and Miss Gavin won the next two. Continuing to play the steadier game. Miss Gavin maintained her lead, and at the . end of the first nine she lead by 3 up. Winning the tenth and eleventh Sirs. Grace reduced the margin to one up, and at the fifteenth they were all square. Playing the sixteenth Mrs. Grace drove her ball close to the fence, where she had four Shots and eventually gave up. making the position 1 up and 2 mi Miss Gavin’s favor. At the seventeenti?, Miss Gavin drove out of bounds, and Mrs. Grace drove over the cliff. Both drove good second drives, but by topping an approach, Mrs. Grace lost the hole and the match.
At the conclusion of play Mr. C. H. Weston (vice-president of the club) presented the prizes. Mr. J. Paton, on behalf of the visitors, expressed their tlTanks for an enjoyable tournament, which they hoped would be repeated next year. Tire prize list is as follows:

The ladles of the Wanganui and New Plymouth Clubs will play an inter-club match on the Walwakatho links this morning, commencing at 11.30 a.m. The following will play for Wanganui:—Mrs. Grace, Miss Harper, Mrs. Smith, Miss Addenbrooke, Mrs. Orton, Mirs. Bayly, Miss Jackson and Mrs. Peat.
The New Plymouth Club will be represented by:—'Miss Gavin, Miss Rundle, Mrs. Butcher, Mrs. Qullliam, Mrs. Johns, Miss Rollo, Miss Stanford, and Mrs. McQuade. Emergencies; Miss Read and Miss Thompson.
NEW PLYMOUTH V. HAWERA. WIN FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. The annual match between New Plymouth and Hawera was played at Hawera yesterday. Foursomes were played in the morning, New Plymouth winning seven matches, Hawera four, and one was halved. In the afternoon singles were played. New Plymouth winning 15, Hawera 7, and 3 were halved.
