LICENSING COMMITTEE.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Licensing Committee was held yesterday, the following being present:-*-Messrs. C. R. Orr Walker S.M. (Chairman), W. A. Ambury and F. P. Corkill. Licenses were granted in respect of the following hotels: Terminus, F. Faber (Mr. R. H. Quilliam); Criterion, W. D. Graham (Mr. H. R. Billing); White Hart, A. E. Horne (Mr. Billing).

Renewals were approved as follows: Breakwater, E. D. Hammond (Mr. Anderson) ; Red House, Edwin Whittle (Mr. Quilliam); Royal, W. G. Emery (Mr. Billing); Grosvenor, E. McGinty (Mr. Quilliam). Licences for accommodation houses were granted as under, Oakura Hotel, F. ('. Emery (Mr. Billing); Okato Hotel, E. D. Meredith (Mr. Billing). The renewal of a wholesale license to Abraham Goldwater was approved, Mr. Quilliam appearing for applicant. The Northern S.S. Coy (Mr. Quilliam) were granted a packet license for the S.S. Rarawa trading between New Plymouth and Onehunga. Licensees in the liorough of New Ply-

mouth were granted permission to extinguish outside lights at six o’clock. The time for keeping lights going at accommodation houses was fixed at 10 o’clock.
