PRICES TRIBUNAL.
DISBANDMENT AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, May 30. The Auckland Prices Investigation Tribunal disbanded to-day. Mr. McCallum, the chairman, said, that the tribunal had dealt with 646 cases between Whangarei and Gisborne. In 313 the charges were considered not unreasonable and in 136 refunds, adjustments and allowances were decided upon. Four prosecutions were ordered; one of these was still pending, one was dismissed, and two secured convictions. The chairman concluded: “The process of cutting short unavoidable losses will give an impetus to the law of competition, which will act more certainly and more drastically than any tribunals could do.”
