LEADER’S BELATED APPEAL. COTTON STORE SET ON FIRE, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright; Cairo, May 26. The Nationalist leader Zaghlul, who is held to be indirectly responsible for the recent outbreaks here and in Alexandria, has made a belated appeal and called on the people to restrain their righteous anger against the Ministry and cease demonstrations. He endeavors to saddle the authorities with the responsibility for the disorders. Meanwhile the threatened railway strike in Cairo has not materialised. Two thousand five hundred railway workshop workers who struck have been dismissed. A Government cotton store was set on fire. Ten thousand bales of cotton were involved.
