COURSING.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. OPENING OF SEASON. Open and Novice stakes were run by the New Plymouth Coursing Club at their grounds at Glenavon on Saturday, this being the opening programme of the season. There' was a big crowd present, and good sport was witnessed. The dogs were in good form, and there were a number of “kills.” Tire open event went to the Opunake dog Mons, and the. novice stakes* were annexed by Gipsy Gem, a New Plymouth-owned competitor.
Thff meeting was ably conducted by the club’s officials, those responsible for the management being Messrs. F. Doughty (secretary), W. Haskell (slip steward), C. Haskell and A. McGlven (hare slippers), and A. Walshe (call steward). Mr. Doughty also acted as Slipper. This year’s committee is under the chairmanship of Mr. P. Stainton. Details of the events are:— OPEN STAKES.
