SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

SYSTEM OF THE ELECTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Regarding the suggestion made Dy the East Christchurch School Committee, that the interest of householders in school matters would be stimulated if nominations were received at the meetings, the Hon. C. J. Parr (Minister of Education) replied stating that experience showed that in some districts it was impossible to take a poll under the old conditions. The Government had been urged not only to take nominations beforehand, but to take the poll in the urban area during the day. The Minister cannot see his way to revert to the previous practice of receiving nominations at the meetings.
