The price of certain brands of soap was reduced in Wanganui as from yesterday.

The Melbourne Clothing Company are offering an excellent line-of men’s colonial tweed overcoats at £5 19s 6d. These coats are well cut, double breasted and belted, and are suitable for either walking or motoring. Shades are in dark brown and dark grey. These coats were priced at £6 19s 6d a few days ago.

There is no risk of clothes becoming a bad color when “Fairy Wonder” washing powder is used. In fact there are many instances where clothes which had become a bad color through using ah inferior washing compound have been restored to a beautiful pearly whiteness by using “Fairy.” Moreover, “Fairy” lengthens the life of fabrics through the elimination of rubbing. It will be noticed from our advertising columns that the Government Insurance Department (life and accident), is opening a branch office in New Plymouth. The recent census figures disclosed a material increase in the population here, and it is pleasing to note that the growing importance of the town and district is being recognised by the leading business institutions of the Dominion. The opening of the branch should prove a great convenience to the Department’s many policy holders, and materially increase the business of a department which is so well and favorably known in this province. Mr. W. J. Ewart, who has been transferred from Wellington, will be in charge of the office, which is situated next to the National Bank in Brougham Street. A preliminary advertisement of two important sales of grade Jersey cattle appeal's in our auction columns, the cattle to be sold being on account of Messrs. John Poletti, Chas. Wells, and Oliver Cross, all of whom are well known for handling cattle of exceptional quality.

Ladies should protect themselves from coughs, colds, sore throats, etc., by putting about 10 drops of Nazol on a handkerchief and placing it inside a blouse. Use Nazol freely in this way—it does not injure the most delicate fabric. • 3
