AUCTIONING MEAT.

VENDOR’S LICENSE UNNECESSARY. By Telegraph.—Prev? Association Wellington, May 26. Considerable interest attached to a judgment given to-day by Mr. Hunt, S.M., in a case against a firm of auctioneers of selling meat by auction without having a meat--vendor’s license issued by the City Council. The company has been holding daily sales of meat at their rooms. The defence was stated that an auctioneer’s license entitled the person licensed to sell any goods in any part of New Zealand, and that the bylaw could not over-ride the statute. This view was supported by the magistrate, who dismissed the charge.
