ECHO OF DIVORCE CASE.

CO-RESPONDENT FAILS TO PAY. A BANKRUPTCY PETITION. A sequel to a divorce case arose in the Supreme Court, New Plymouth, yesterday, when an application under the Bankruptcy Act was dealt with. A petition was presented by Hector J. O’Halloran, of Dannevirke, for a direction of service in connection with an application to have Frank A. Loft, formerly of Ohura, adjudged a bankrupt. Mr. C. H. Weston, who appeared on behalf of the petitioner, explained tl®t some time ago O’Halloran petitioner for a dissolution of his marriage with his wife, Loft being cited as co-respondent. On May 20, in the Supreme Court at Wellington, a decree nisi was made, and judgment for £5OO entered against Loft (co-respon-dent). At the latter end of April, however, debtor had transferred his property to his brother, and just after the case was over he left for Sydney. In view of the circumstances the assurflption was that debtor had left for Australia with the intention of evading payment. His address was not now known, and counsel asked- that His Honor direct substituted service of the petition.

His Honor ordered that service be made on defendant’s brother, H. H. Loft; also by registered letter to debtor, care G.P.0., Sydney, and by service on the respondent, the petition to be answei*ed by July 29. f
