BRITISH POSTAL RATES.
INCREASE TO COVER LOSS. By Telegraph.—Press Assd —Copyright. London, May 25. The Postmaster-General has announced that postcard rates will be raised from * penny to three half-pence, the miniminn rate for printed papers from a half-penny to a penny, and foreign letters from 2%d to 3d. The delivery of letters on Sunday will be discontinued. The increases are due to the present heavy losses on the postal services.
Received May 28, 8.10 p.m. London. May 25. In connection with the new postal rates, there are no increases on newspapers, but there is an increase on other printed matter.—Reuter Sevice.
