TENNIS.
DAVIS CUP MATCHES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, May 25. The Davis Cup Committee has announced the assignment of matches, so far as possible on information received. On September 2 the challenger round will be played at Westside Tennis Club, Forest Hills, Long Island, and the final unateh nt the Newport Tennis Club. The semi-final of the lower half will be played‘under the Western Tennis Association at the Onwetnsia Club, and the semi-final, upper half, at the Cleveland Associated Tennis Club.
The second round between the winner of Spain v. Britain and Canada v. Australia will be played at the Allegheny Country Club, at Pittsburg; the Argentine-Denmark bye at the Crescent Athletic Club, Brooklyn. It is anticipated two other matches will be played In the United States,*but definite information is waited from the countries concerned.
The committee has decided that no selection for the America team will be made at present. It Is stated that the choice is wide and open. The selection will be based on the showing made in thp competitions this summer.
