EGYPTIAN RIOTS.
EUROPEANS ATTACKED. BRITISH TROOPS TAKE CHARGE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Cairo, May 23. There is a critical situation in Alexandria. A rumor that a Greek had killed a native led to the natives attacking the Europeans. Ambulances were busy all night long. Mobs smashed shop windows, and all business places are closed. The Europeans assembled at the Governor’s residence and demanded protection or permission to protect themselves. ‘Firing is now proceeding all round, students and natives attacking Europeans in many places. The Leban district has been destroyed by 'fire and it is reported that some people were burned alive.
British troops have arrived and have taken charge of the town.
