VENUS MISTAKEN FOR COMET. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 23. There have been several reports lately as to the Pons Winnecke comet being seen as an impressive sight in the morning. This object is Venus. The Government Astronomer states that the comet is not yet visible. AN ESCAPEE SENTENCED. Auckland, May 23. George Vincent Keyes, who was recently captured after one month had elapsed since his escape from gaol, was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment in addition to six months for a* previous escape.
