WEEKLY REPORTS. Newton King, Ltd., reports:— At Urenui, on May 16, we report a fair yarding of sheep, but a poor one of cattle, the whole offering changing hands at the hammer. Fat and forward ewes and wethers were the only classes in any marked demand. Forward, 2, 4 and 6-tooth wethers Ils Id to 12s 3d, fat ewes’l4s 6d, ewes in lamb 5s to 7s 6d, lambs 3s 7d to 3s Bd, forward ditto 6s 4d, weaner steers 10s, weaner heifers 18s, store cows 17s 6d to 355, forward ditto £3 ss. At Stratford, on 17th inst., the sale had an easier tone throughout. Sheep were in poor demand, few pens selling. The demand for cattle was by no means spirited, but most of the offering sold, prices on a level with late rates. Well grown lambs Bs. forward wethers 12s 9d, store cows 30s to 355, fresh conditioned ditto £2 15s, fat ditto £4 to £4 17s Gd, 2 -find 2%-year old steers £3 3s, weaner heifers 22s 6d to 375, Jersey ditto £3 Is, weaner steers 9s 6d to Ils 6d, dairy cows £ll 5s to £l2. At Inglewood, on 18th. inst., a fair yarding of cattle met with a moderate demand, good weaner heifers being the only class to maihl.ain late prices. Weaner heifers Ils to 19s, better quality ditto 25s to 375, Jersey ditto £4, mixed sex wethers 12s, store cows Ils to 15s, better sorts 23s to 295, 3%-year bullocks £3 15s, dairy cows in profit £8 to £l3, lambs 2s 6d, forward ditto 7s.
At Rahotu, on May 20th., a small yarding met with a slack sale, passings being frequent at the hammer. The bulk of the yarding was eventually cleared, however, prices rmainlng on a par with recent sales., Weaner heifers 15s to 21s, Jersey ditto £4 2s 6d, light and aged store cows 12s, forward ditto £2 15s to £3 ss, boner bull 255. HAMILTON MARKETS. * Tiic Farmers Co-op. Auctioneering To. report as fellows:— At Hamilton on Thursday, May If), W6 -had a full yarding of sheep and pigs, but cattle were in small numbers. Beef was n short supply and much firmer than the previous week, fat cows making to £lO 4s, lighter weights £4 10s to £6 15s. Very few store cattle were yarded witli values similar to last week. Store cows £1 to £1 15s, calves £1 to £1 7s, dairy cows and heifers at profit sold freely from £l2 10s to £l6 5s for the best. Second "'quality £7 to £lO 10s, spring calvers £5 10s to £B. The sheep pens were full but bidding in most cases was not quite so brisk. Fat lambs made to 16s 6d, forward ewes Ils 9d to 14s 7d, 2-tooth’ store wethers 10s fid to 12s 9d, store lambs 7s to 8s fid, pigs were in good demand at values equal to last week. Heavy baconers to £6 9s, porkers £2 7s 6d, weaners 9s to 16s.
