RIOTS IN EGYPT.
ANTI-BRITISH FEELING. POLICE SERIOUSLY INJURED. By Telegraph.-Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 22, 5.5 p.m. Cairo, May 20. Serious rioting has broken out, apparently connected with the extremist attempt to prevent an official delegation, headed by the Premier, leaving for London to negotiate with tjje British Government regarding Egyption self-govern-ment. The demonstrators attacked the mounted police with sticks, stones, arid iron bars, and maimed thirty horses, and many police, who were forbidden to fire, were injured seriously. Egyptian lancers quelled the disturbances. One rioter was killed and many injured. Further extensive rioting occurred today. Following the funeral of a rioter, killed yesterday, crowds persistently attacked the police, and after three hours the Egyptian cavalry were called out. It is believed the rioters had three killed and eleven wounded. .
Owing to the restraint of the police, considerable damage was done, and a number of Europeans were stoned at Alexandria. Pro-Zaghloul demonstrations lasted all day, and occasional rioting, in which one British military policeman and one rioter were killed. The curfew will b* d at ten o’clock to-night.—Reuter Service.
