WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, May 19. Mr. W. Jones, who was recently appointed borough inspector, has, it is stated, secured the names of no less than 30 persons who may be charged with breaches of the by-laws. At cards on Wednesday the Druids proved the victors by 17 games to 14. The Waitara Card Association has proved very popular, and some very enjoyable evenings are spent. The town clerk is in receipt of a letter from the Minister of Labor declaring May 28 the first day of the alteration of the half-holiday. The retailers held a meeting on Wednesday evening to decide what hours should be kept, and it was decided to close at 8 p.m. on the Friday night and 12 Hoon on Saturdays.- '
