ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE PEOPLE’S,
LAST NIGHT OF BUCK JONES AND EILEEN PERCY.
To-night’s screening concludes the local season of the very fine double Fox programme, presenting Buck Jones in “Just Pals,” a Western stunt play, and “The Land of Jazz,” a hilarious comedy drama, featuring delectable Eileen Percy. “DANGEROUS TO MEN”
TO-MORROW.
“Dangerous to Men” is an adaptation of H. V. Esmond’s drama, “Eliza Comes to Stay,” one of the biggest successes of the modern English stage. In it ths fascinating little Miss Daria has scored the greatest personal triumph of her career. It is the romance of an ugly duckling who finds herself, at eighteen, in a young bachelor’s household as his ward. How she becomes “dangerous” with the allurement of youthful audacity, and makes men dizzy in the giddy whirl of courtship, is told in a story full of thrilling developments. Special interest for women is found iri the emphasis the story puts upon the psychology of clothes —and how much gowns mean to a girl in the game of love. Miss Dana has an opportunity to wear some of the most modish creations of the season. “Dangerous to Men” is the sort of picture that should not be missed.
EVERYBODY’S.
CORINNE GRIFFITH IN “BAB’S CANDIDATE.”
Everyone manages to raise some enthusiasm over an election, especially if it is a battle of wits and clever strategy. Add to the natural fervor of a heated election campaign a delightful love story, and you have “Bab’s Candidate,” with Corinne Griffith, whose dainty beauty has made her a film favorite, acting as arbiter of destinies. The characters are quaint types,, and Corinne Griffith wears a multitude of costumes to put a finish on her really fine acting; they range from afternoon frocks to trousers, and high boots, to say nothing of pyjamas. The star does some of her best work. The story won an O. Henry competition, and was originally known as “Gumshoe 4-B.” The programme includes gazette, comedy, travel and “Bride 13” No. 2.
