TARANAKI EGG CIRCLE.
THE ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Taranaki Co-operative Egg Circle was held in New Plymouth last night. Mr. W. Scott presided. The annual report stated that the operations of the circle during the year had been very successful. The total number of eggs disposed of during the year was 43,200 dozen, which realised £4660 15s 9d, as against 40,374 dozen last year, which realised £4Oll 3s 7d. The average monthly price paid out to members was 2s 3d per dozen, as against Is lid last year. The credit balance of the circle was 15s Gd.
The chairman said that though the average monthly price secured for eggs during the past year showed a considerable advance on the prices for last year, several increased costs that th? poultrymen had to contend with must be taken into consideration, and that when these costs were deducted the return to the producers was really not higher than last year. In the coming year, said Mr. Scott, the constitution of the circle was to be considerably altered, and the circle was to be known as the Taranaki Co-operative Egg Society, Limited. Through becoming incorporated the society bound its members to supply through their own society, and enabled debts to the society to be collected legally.
The following committee was elected for the coming year:—Messrs. W. Scott, J. H. Hamilton. A. P. Lister, J. N. Eva, J. Hawkins, C. Bellringer, and J. Smith.
In discussing a request from the New Zealand Poultry Association that the individual circles 1 i levy of 3d per 100 dozen eggs supplied towards the expenses of the central body, members suggested that the 3d levy should include the annual affiliation fee. It was decided that 3d per hundred dozen of eggs handled be paid to the central society, in addition to the annual affiliation fee.
