STRATFORD MODEL DAIRY FARM.

The regular monthly meeting of the Stratford Model Dairy Farm was held on the 10th instant. Present: Messrs. J. W. Deem (chairman), J. B. Richards, W. H. Were, S. Pitt, and E. B. Roberton. Apologies were received from Messrs. E. Marfell and W. Wickham.

The tender of Mr. C. Moore, builder, Stra/tford, has been accepted in connection with the erection of the manager’s residence. Messrs. Ths manager’s report, which was adopted, stated:—

Pasture.—l would like the committee to consider the question of top dressing field 8 with 3 cwt. of slag to the acre, as this paddock is shut up for spring feed. The oats in the bottom paddock are doing well, the young grass is very slow growing, especially cow grass and small clover. About two acres of Algerian oats and Scotch tares were drilled on April 16. T would suggest that the mangolds be lifted in June. Carrots are still looking well. Soft turnips will be finished this week. Cabbage are being fed to the milking cows and pigs. Fifty three cows were milked in April. The quantity of milk for the month was 17.9131b5, tests, Ist, 2nd, and 3rd periods, 4.9; 4.8; 4.6. Five pigs were sold on April 13, weight averaging 131ibs. It was resolved that fields 5,8, and 14 ■be top-dressed with slag, 3 cwt. to the acre.
