LABOR’S AIMS.

POLICY IN AUSTRALIA.

CLAIMS TO LOYALTY.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 16, 10.30 p.m. Sydney, May 16.

The executive of the Australian Labor Party has issued a manifesto, signed by the Lord Mayor, declaring that the Labor movement is a loyal movement, and took no part whatever in the recent May Day demonstration in the Domain, as the first plank of the platform stands for complete Australian self government as a British community. The party also heartily approves of the slogan enunciated by Lord Forster of “Australia for the Australians.” The manifesto continues: “The real disloyalists are the anti-Labor forces, who entered into a compact with certain anti-Australian military officers to break up the Labor organisations and pave the way to a scheme under which the crimson threads of kinship may be transmuted into relentless chains of Imperial federation. In the guise of Loyalty Leagues a widespread organisation was br ; lt up throughout Australia and paid military organisers have worked for months past. Many thousands of pounds were spent preparing for the demonstration in the Domain on May 8, which resolved itself into an organised suppression of unoffending speakers.” The manifesto concludes by calling on all Labor leagues to endorse Labor's policy of Australian self-government and to register the strongest protest against the introduction of Prussianism into Australia.—Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
